Today I am very honored to introduce to you someone very special: Our Weddingphotographers Cathrin Meyer and Manuel Thomé from pure wedding.

When we first started to plan our wedding last year in August, we didn’t plan a lot of our budget for a good photographer because we thougt, everybody is capable of taking some nice wedding pictures. We were soooo wrong!

Then I discovered all the wonderful wedding blogs on the internet and was absolutely stunned about all the wonderful pics from the real weddings there. That was when I had second thoughts about our planning and was sure, we needed real Pros for the job. I wanted this gorgeous photo art for our wedding as well.

I have to say that special modern wedding photography that you have in the US very often is not so easy to find here. I got a little frustrated doing my research, because I saw a lot of pics that weren’t creative, not made “with love” or just very oldfashioned (and I don’t mean in a cool Retro way).

But luckily one day I stumbled upon  Hochzeitsfotografen Deluxe, a platform where one of the best German wedding photographers are combined.

That’s where I found Cathrin and Manuel.

We met with them in their atelier and it klicked at the first moment, because they are so nice and cool people, just our age and they immediately understood what we wanted. A wedding day is so intimate and you will be so nervous, so I think it is a great bonus, when your photographers are not only masters in their craft (which is indispensible anyway) but they are also cool und lovely people. Don’t book a photographer, when you don’t connect on a personal level, this is my advice.

Manuel was so nice to send me brandnew pics from a bridal shoot he just did in the desert outside Vegas, when he was there to visit the World’s biggest Fair for wedding photography. Aren’t the pictures just awesome?

Today it is Happy Place Time again and I want to introduce to you one of the most beautiful cities in Germany (besides Cologne of couse): Hamburg. I have been to Hamburg quite often in the last years and I always had a blast there. It really is a stunning city, which has a very specific flair.

The amazing thing for me is that there is water everywhere and it dominates all of your impressions. I totally love it! There are many rivers and canals, which are crossed by more bridges than Venice and Amsterdam have combined. Near to the water you can find the very noble areas with gorgeous big, old mansions, one more beautiful than the other.

There are so many wonderful things to do in Hamburg.

How about a boat trip on the Alster?

Or a romantic sunset at the pier?

Or you explore one of the individual quarters. The noble Eppendorf, with it’s awesome architecture and cute little shops

Or the more alternative, vibrant district called Schanze, where you have great bars and restaurants, with mostly young people hanging out

As you see, there are so many things to do, and I have not even mentioned the impressive harbour, the famous Reeperbahn, great musicals like “The Lion King”, etc etc.

My sweetheart and I decided that we will visit again before July. I will keep you up with new finds.

I think it is nice to use occasions like Mother’s Day to walk down memory lane, so we went through old pictures together and made some great discoveries. I was totally amazed by one picture in particular, which shows my Mum with my Granny, who sadly past away 7 years ago and who also played a big part in my life because I spent a lot of time with her when I was a kid.

Isn’t it an awesome pic? It touched me very much because I am so lucky that I had and have this two wonderful women in my life.

Mum, I thank you  from the bottom of my heart, that you always gave me a loving home and taught me right from wrong.

I value the possibilities you enabled for me and that brought me to the happy place in my life where I am now.

I love you so much!

The Ring Bearer from Paloma’s Nest, which I ordered over etsy for our wedding.

I am overwhelmed how beautiful it turned out. And it was a very moving moment to see our names and the date carved in there. I felt the big day coming nearer.

When I discovered Paloma’s Nest on the web and with that the beautiful work of artist and designer Caroline Colom Vasquez, I directly new, that she had to create our ring bowl. The bowls are awesome and you have a wonderful piece to remember your special day for ever.

But Paloma’s Nest also does other great artwork.

A big Hello to everybody! Today I will make up for what I missed yesterday: posting a new Happy Place. I already gave you a small appetizer and some of you might have already recognized it: It was the beautiful cathedral in Palma, Mallorca.

I have been to Mallorca two times now with the man of my heart and we both absolutely love it there. (You might remember the post about our favorite beach Sa Rapita).

What I really love about Mallorca is that you can have everything: great beaches, chillin’ out, shopping, clubbin’, great restaurants, bars and culture. And the capital Palma has nearly everything combined.

Besides it is stunning beautiful. Awesome buildings with super sweet window shutters, which I adore, the little streets in the Old Town where you can explore tiny shops and the breathtaking harbour with its huuuuuuuge ships.

Near to the harbour there are a few small streets where you can find the best restaurants. But you have to be careful. Not all that look pretty on the outside serve great food, believe me, I fell for that trap a few times. But after some failures we discoverd great places. One of our favorites, where we went nearly every day last year, was Tasu, a very cool place with great tapas for very reasonable prices.

Another great tip is the world’s best ice-cream parlour (in my opinion): Iceberg. The owner is a creative German guy and the flavors of ice-cream he creates are very special but super, super yummy. I mean you need some courage to try goatcheese ice-cream with honey or chocolate-wasabi, but believe me: it is fantastic!!!

There is so much more to say about Palma, but I think I will just let the pictures speak for itself and I hope you have the opportunity to travel there in the near future. If you need some more tipps feel free to ask me. I would love to  help.

Boys been hard-working this night and now the city is full of this pretty proofs of love

I am so happy because my sweetheart came back yesterday from one loooong week of business travel. I noticed once again how weird it is when you are apart from eachother when you elsewise spend nearly every day together. There are so many rituals you develop…

What I missed most:

1. My nook in his arm, where I fall asleep every night

2. The good-bye kiss I give him when he is still in bed and I have to head off to work (much too early)

3. The green tea he makes for me on week-end mornings and brings it to bed

4. Throwing on the barbecue with him and he being the Grillmaster

5. His infective laugh and the sound of his voice (hearing it over the phone is NOT the same, because it sounds different)

6. His constant craving for ice-cream,  that always seduces me to get a big cone, too

(We already catched up in this point today, like you can see on the pic)

But now Baby is back, everything is good again and I am looking forward to the week-end with him.

Tonight is “Dance into May”, which is a tradition in Germany. It is the night before the 1st May (1st may is off, because it is a holiday here, but this year it is a Saturday anyway, shoot!), and there are parties everywhere. When you are a boy secretly in love, you also set a tree in front of the house of your beloved in this night. That is very cool because it is a common thing that the guys hang the trees (or big branches) with colorful banners and they look so pretty in the streets. They stay there the whole May and in June the secret admirers are suppose to come out of the closet and the trees are removed.

Because I already have a finacé I don’t expect a Maytree before my house But I think we will have a very fun evening, I am really up for dancing.
