Back in my nook

30 Apr

I am so happy because my sweetheart came back yesterday from one loooong week of business travel. I noticed once again how weird it is when you are apart from eachother when you elsewise spend nearly every day together. There are so many rituals you develop…

What I missed most:

1. My nook in his arm, where I fall asleep every night

2. The good-bye kiss I give him when he is still in bed and I have to head off to work (much too early)

3. The green tea he makes for me on week-end mornings and brings it to bed

4. Throwing on the barbecue with him and he being the Grillmaster

5. His infective laugh and the sound of his voice (hearing it over the phone is NOT the same, because it sounds different)

6. His constant craving for ice-cream,  that always seduces me to get a big cone, too

(We already catched up in this point today, like you can see on the pic)

But now Baby is back, everything is good again and I am looking forward to the week-end with him.

Tonight is “Dance into May”, which is a tradition in Germany. It is the night before the 1st May (1st may is off, because it is a holiday here, but this year it is a Saturday anyway, shoot!), and there are parties everywhere. When you are a boy secretly in love, you also set a tree in front of the house of your beloved in this night. That is very cool because it is a common thing that the guys hang the trees (or big branches) with colorful banners and they look so pretty in the streets. They stay there the whole May and in June the secret admirers are suppose to come out of the closet and the trees are removed.

Because I already have a finacé I don’t expect a Maytree before my house 🙂 But I think we will have a very fun evening, I am really up for dancing.

What are you up for the week-end?

I am blessed!

Just came back from my Jogging track and once again I have to say I love love love the area we live in. It is a little bit outside of the center and very rural. A few years ago I would have never thought that I will live in such a quite place, because I always lived very central in Cologne. But now I really appreciate coming home and being surrounded by nature. Our direct neighbors are two riding stables, there are beautiful meadows with horses and donkeys (the donkey lady is the loudest thing here around because she cries enormously when she is upset) and the river Rhine is just nearby.

I never want to live anywhere else ever again! (Okay, never say never, but I am so enthusiastic today)

Design Inspiration by Jen Ramos

28 Apr

Spring for me is always a time where I come up with ideas of redesigning our apartment because everything should be fresh and new. So I am looking here and there for inspirations. One website I really love is madebygirl by Jen Ramos. She has a shop where you can purchase the sweetest prints (I have an eye on this wedding print, that I will definitely order for us) and her blog is full of eyecandy. On her website you can also find a post about Jen’s home and how she decorated it. So adorable! Have a look.

I love this “Romeo and Juliet” Painting, Jen did herself:

What a nice place to get to work

Happy Place – Camden Town, London

26 Apr

If you already follow my blog for a little while, you might wonder why I post a Happy Place in London again, because I already posted Neal’s Yard.

Well, because I am just crazy about this city and I think, this won’t be the last post about it. (And besides today I already looked for flights again for the Summer, my longing is getting deeper).

So this is about Camden Town. When I am in London, going there is a MUST. There you can find the coolest shops, pubs and bars.  You can just start at the beginning of Camden High Street and hop from bar to bar.

Everything is so colorful, makes me happy!

On Sundays the big thing to see is of course Camden Markt, a combination of open air and indoor markets. I especially like the Stables Market, which you can find in restored industrial buildings and catacombs, awesome!

I think, you now got an impression, why Camden is a Happy Place for me.

There is soooo much to see and to explore, no matter if it is in the daytime or at night. Fun guaranteed!

The world’s best lunch

26 Apr

When I find a meal I really like, I can literally eat it every day. At the moment I am going absolutely crazy for MoschMosch’s salad with cellophane noodles and wasabi dressing. Had it for lunch today again and I am not getting bored.

“Wednesdays I’m in love…”

25 Apr

When you are a couple and you are both very committed to your jobs it is quite hard to spend quality time together in your everyday life, because you work late, have to do grocery shopping, household, meet friends and family, etc. So a few month ago the man of my heart suggested that Wednesday should be our constant day where we plan the evening just for the two of us. I thought that this was such a sweet idea and from that day on we really stuck to it. It doesn’t mean that we always plan big events on that day, but we take care that we are not distracted by anything else, keep the notebooks and phones switched off and just do what we are up to on that day: go see a movie, cook a new recipe, do sports together, etc.

Then a few weeks ago I came up with the additional idea that we write little notes with restaurants we always wanted to try out, put them in a glass, so we can draw one every now and then and go there spontaneously on one of our Wednesdays. So we tried it out this week for the first time and we drew the restaurant “Acht” in Cologne.

I have to say it really was a maginificant find. “Acht” has a rustic charme but it is also very modern and bright. They have a wonderful brick wall (which I am such a fan of) and an open kitchen. The service was so kind and helpful and the food was superb. I had a super yummy Risotto with scallops and my sweetheart had lamb with vegetables. The Rioja wine we had was one of the best I ever tasted.

So our first draw was a success on all levels and I am looking forward to the next discovery. I will keep you up with that and besides: I can recommend a “quality time”-day once a week. We really appreciate this time we have just for us.

Now I can even…

…blog from my phone. How cool is that? Sitting in the train from Stuttgart to Cologne and looking forward to being home and enjoying the beautiful weather. Have a great Sunday!
