Driving Home for Easter

4 Apr

Happy Easter everybody!

Today we drove to our families to celebrate with them. They live not far away, about 50 miles from us. That meant a lot, A LOT of good food for us. First we went to my soon to be mother-in-law to have a huge Easter brunch and the evening we went to my parents and had a great dinner with them. Lamb, beans and potatoes. Yummy!

I really have to go running tomorrow to lose to extra Easter weight.

The whole day was so much fun (not only because of the good food). The older you get the more you appreciate the time you spend with your family and are aware that it is very precious. Just sitting around at the table for hours and hours, chatting, laughing and enjoying eachothers company. That’s what a holiday like Easter should be and that it was today. I am very thankful for that… GOOD NIGHT!

I’m in a Food Coma

1 Apr

The whole day I have been craving for Thai Food. Then my fiancé comes home in the evening and says: “Let’s have some Thai Food” – that’s what I call telepathy. So we went to our favorite place, the best Thai restaurant in Cologne in our opinion and had a huge  dinner. We shared a big plate with Appetizers and 2 main courses (Chicken with green curry and Duck with mushrooms and peanuts) – everything was so yummy, like always. But the portions really knocked us out, directly going to bed now. Good night!

My Number One Happy Place

29 Mar

Neal's Yard

On Mondays I think it is especially important to have things to cheer you up, because…well… it’s Monday. So from now on I will post one of my happy places every Monday. Places, that I get comfort and happiness from everytime I am there, because they are so beautiful. I want to start with my most favorite happy place in the whole world: Neal’s Yard in London. First I have to say, that I am so crazy about London, I have to go to visit every year, otherwise I get really nervous. I love everything about it, it has a very special vibe to me and I just feel good when I am there. There are billions of great places there, but Neals’s Yard is just so special to me. I discovered it through my cousin, who lives there, years ago and immediately fell in love. Then I introduced it to my finacé who also thinks it is awesome. Now we got a huge picture of it hanging in our living room, so we can enjoy the look of it every day.

It is a little hard to find, it’s in a backyard from Neal’s Street. The colours of the houses are absolutely gorgeous, there is a massage place, a shop of “Neal’s Yard” cosmetics and some very good organic snack bars / cafés. When you go there be sure to visit “World Food Café“, a vegetarian restaurant, with super  fresh ingridients, so yummy!
